Atulya Farms is a strong pack of men and women in and around India who were intrigued by the idea of deteriorating TASTE of milk. We weren’t aware of the fact that along with the taste, Milk has actually lost its innate QUALITY too until extensive research and scientific tests, Milk reports gave us a shock. We are a set of people who were totally unaware of the quality of milk we consumed and its side effects. Then we came across a video that showed difference between A1 and A2 Milk. That is when all the research began. We realised why our children desperately refused to drink milk. And WHY milk was not as effective as we regarded it to be. So, a few like minded people got together and decided to reiterate the history of MILK to this generation and all the forthcoming ones. Hence, started Atulya Farms.

After digging deep, we found that the mention of cows was first done in our Vedas. It is said that a cow named Kamdhenu was born during Samudra-manthan. Kamdhenu is the pet cow of Sri Krishna. And she was blessed with the power that anything that she produces will never be wasted. Myth logically because of this blessing, thirty-three types indigenous cows were found in India. This is why it was said that the family that has cows and tulsi, will never face any problems related to health. Ayurveda hence incorporated Milk, Go-mutra(Cow’s urine) and Gobar(cow dung) for medicinal purposes that not only healed ill health but also prevented a number of health problems. But this scenario is of a time that we have left behind about five thousand-six thousand years ago.

Cross breeding began about two thousand years ago. When the culture of cross breeding began in foreign countries, a certain kind of genetic mutation happened. A1 milk is the milk produced by the indigenous breed of cows like Gir, Red Sindhi, Sahiwal, Bargur, Hallikar etc. These breeds of cows were present in India since thousands of years. But when the culture of cross-breeding came to India, things changed. India accepted cross breeding because of the increased demand of milk due to immense population outburst. Since the indigenous breeds were incapable of fulfilling the demand of milk, we brought in White revolution into the country. Under this, the indigenous breeds of India were cross bred with the foreign breeds of cows and hence the mutation in the genes occurred.

Let’s understand the mutation that happened. Since Milk is majorly protein, we already know that protein is a chain of amino acids. There are two types of proteins are found in milk. They are Casein and Whey. Majorly casein is the protein present in Milk. It is of three types. Alpha casein, beta casein and kappa casein. The 67th position of the beta casein chain had an amino acid called Proline. During genetic mutation, this went through a massive change and was replaced by an amino acid called Histidine.

As this new protein was broken down, a peptide called Beta casomorphine was formed and released into the blood of the Milk producing cows. This leads to immense health related problems and also invites diseases like schizophrenia, autism and innumerable more such deadly diseases.

When our research team found this out, we set to re-kindle the conscience of India regarding MILK and ITS PAST GLORY. Henceforth we started attending several seminars and training sessions to finally establish what you now known as VedicAmrit. And we pledge to serve humanity at large by saving and nurturing our indigenous cows.

Which breed of cows?

We are focussed on only one breed of cows. The Gir cow.

Identify the GIR cow!

Body Size:

The origin of the breed is in the Gir forest region and surrounding districts of Saurashtra region of Gujarat State. It is a moderate to large size breed. The females average 385 kg with a height of 130 cm and the males average 545 kg with a height of 135 cm.

Head:

The most unusual feature of Girs is their convex forehead. The animals have a big head with prominent bulging shield like forehead and a long face.

Ears:

Their ears are long and pendulous, opening to the front and resembling a curled up leaf.

Horns:

Horns are set well back on their heads and thick at the base. They grow downwards and backwards with an upward curve.

Colour:

The vary in colour from pure red to speckles, yellowish red to white with large red spots. Their undercoat is red.

Skin:

Their skin is darkly pigmented with short glossy hair, very loose and pliable.

Eyes:

A Gir’s eyes are hooded and black pigmented. They can close their eyelids so it is impossible for insects to annoy them. They have a lot of loose skin around the eye area.

Feet:

Gir’s feet are black and very hard.

Sheath:

The sheath is supported by a very strong panniculus muscle either side. The muscle can raise and lower the sheath at will. Sheaths are very neat and tidy.

Hump:

The hump on a Gir is considered to be the largest of the Zebu breeds and is very well marbled.


The Gir is distinctive in appearance, typically having a rounded and domed forehead (being the only ultra convex breed in the world), long pendulous ears and horns which spiral out and back. Gir are generally mottled with the color ranging from red through yellow to white, it is also found in black color. They originated in southwest India in the state of Gujaratand have since spread to neighboring Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

Specific feature of indigenous cows

  • The hump present in indigenous cows capture Vitamine D from sunlight and store it. This is later released into the milk in specific amounts that adds to the nutrient quotient of Milk and enriches it. This A2 milk, when consumed stabilizes the bodily requirement of Vit D naturally.
  • A2 milk from cows contains certain healthy fats that are required by the body. These healthy fats easily get oxidised during digestion and go into the blood for further healthy benefits. In case of buffalos, although the milk is equally enriched, the fat globules in buffalos’ milk does not melt in the oxidation temperature of human digestive system. And hence are left behind in the human body as recedue. When consumed over a period of time, buffalos’ milk can become the cause of increased bad cholesterol inside the human body!

Feeding our cows

We believe in the authentic nurturing of our Cows. They are treated as we would treat any other family member. As the history of India says “We treat cows like the lakshmi of our houses.” It is no different in Atulya Farms. We abide by the rule of nature and provide our Cows with everything organic. From fodder to added nutrients with ashwagandha, mulethi, bramhi and innumerable other traditional techniques that have been followed by our forefathers to keep the indigenous breeds healthy. We strictly refuse to feed the cows with anything sunthetic. For calcium we add it to the water that they drink and other nutrients are given to them through naturally growing plants and plant matter. We trust in the law of nature and bind ourselves to it strictly.
